I am new to driving a 23T altered. My car is a 125" S&W chrome moly hardtail chassis with a 6.0 certification. I am currently running a 468 BBC running in the low 8's. My plan was to take time to learn the car before stepping up to a bigger motor. However, I am having trouble shutting the car down after each pass. It wants to bounce and get out of shape making it difficult to control. This past weekend, I just used the chute after each pass which made it much easier to control. This has me very frustrated knowing many of you are going way faster than I am and shutting down with no problem. Hopefully, there is some kind of secret to slowing this thing down you all know.

I am running 30 PSI in the front tires, which are the wide ones, not the dragster tires. The rear slicks are 33X15-15 Hoosiers with 5.5-6.0 psi.

Thankfully we can keep this short as you've listed your problem!
You do not have "grocery getter" front tires, they are "RACE CAR" tires. Every mfg. states MIN. 45 PSI, ask them for confirmation!
The sidewalls are too thin to support all the weight thrown forward at deceleration, causing severe toe-out. Also, pull a bolt out of any steering component one at a time to see if the ball spins. If so, it's junk!
Only buy new very tight rod ends, which are priced higher than cheap "NEW JUNK" rod ends! No $3.95 junk!

Thank you for the responses. I tried more air and it appears to have helped greatly. However, the car now has the death wobble after the burnout. I still need to replace the rod ends and guessing that will help that too.

Bob Meyer has already mentioned tow out as an issue. Make sure you have tow in set up in the front end. There is a dampener that you can buy and fit to the steering arm, but for me that is just masking the issue.

Craig, 2 things. #1 If Bob Meyer is talking,,,,listen as he is a sharp guy.

#2 Drive into the chutes. Release throttle right when chute hits. Car will slow down in a more calm manner. Do not stay on throttle after chute hits!

Good luck and check you front end toe in along with all the suspension parts.
