There should be a serial number on the case somewhere. Get that number and call Fowler Engines who now the Kobelco guys in the USA and they should be able to tell you which one it is.

I gotta disagree mike. I tried that a couple years ago and Fowler daid they didn't get any legacy paperwork. They won't be able to tell you anything by the serial number. Great guys though to deal with on anything else though.

Then call Darren Mayer at DMPE INC. He was the Kobelco guy before it went to Fowler

I was talking to JR at RBS about the same thing and he said the serial numbers' 1st or maybe last 2 numbers were the year made and thought the K8 rotor ended about 2004.

Did you see the SSI f2 in the classifieds? I don't know anything about it but if it's legit it's the best deal I've ever seen on a blower.

The serial number at Kobe was only tracking the build date, and unit number for the day. We did not do build sheets and track with the detail as we do at DMPE today. If that supercharger has rear gears it is a one off blower i built for Scotty Cannon many years ago. It used the Kobe parts available and i made the rest at home in my personal shop. I built it at home also as i did the first superman blower as kobelco did not want to use the design. (still sitting on Rocca's Ironhorse today) I designed the K11 rotor i want to say in early 2000 or late 1999. (id have to look at my notes, that was a lifetime ago) Its easy to tell because the OD of the K8 is .036" smaller than the K9 or K11. This was because when NHRA gave us the rule OD, they gave us the maximum bore diameter of 5.804 then the next year it was printed at 5.840. So we took advantage of the typo (if it was one) and the K9 rotor came out. It was riddled with teflon impacting problems that led to the K11 profile. Kobelco's profile used still today. I can look up the introduction date of the K11 if need be. Just shoot me a message on the dmpe face book page if you want it as i do not frequent this site regularly.
