currently the car has a small pump and a small tank, with a switch on the dash to activate the pump.

Do I just run a small line with a fitting into one of the plugged holes in the hat? Does it need to be a nozzle or can it just be a line to a fitting that would just allow the fuel to flow when pump activated?

    Thanks

My engine has the same set up for priming. I drilled and tapped a port in the back of the hat, and use a nozzle with a .030 jet to create a fan pattern. Works well.

I put a sawed off nozzle body into the top of the hat distribution block so that it pumps through the hat nozzles when I hit the prime button. Use a check-valve nozzle so that the fuel doesn't push back into the primer when the system pressure comes up.

Just order this primer check valve as you mentioned? Good vibrations has a 4lb check valve nozzle they use in their kit.

    yes to both.

Drill and tap the plug on the distribution block, and use the E-7133 check valve from Good Vibrations.

had something similar on a friends car and had to put a nos gas solenoid between the 2. it was sucking extra fuel through the pump when running . made it super rich. the solenoid stopped that problem.

I thought of putting a small inline ball valve. This way after start up it could be turned off to prevent that from ever happening?

The distribution block should be pressurized when the engine's running, so there shouldn't be any vacuum at the primer nozzle to pull fuel through the primer pump. Was he running the primer nozzle directly into the hat? In that case you would see vacuum.

We run primer on our drag boats. I run Facet electric pump with a nos fuel solenoid. We draw fuel from tank to pump and solenoid then to a extra nozzle in the hat. Activate with a push button switch.

Same here... cheap parts store pump, 2 quart Jr. Dragster fuel cell, fuel solenoid, all activated from a momentary push button and plumbed into an otherwise unused hat nozzle.
