    Hi,
I want to ask to some guy's who built chromoly frame , if the fact to put powder coating on it , does altered or it's not good to it.
I talk to the guys at the shop . and ask him how he do that
The frame is coated with static powder , then put in a natural gas oven , rapidly eated it up to 435 F , at this temp. the frame stay there for 40 to 45 minutes ,after that , open the doors to cool down the stuff rapidly.
    Don't realy matter if it's a chromoly frame or a shovel !
I know that normaly in alcohol class and up the frame has nothing on it, but in sportman class : t/s , super gas or comp etc... there are many more frame with coating on it.
    Thanks

    powder coating

I believe one of the major reasons is the powder coated tubing may hide cracks easier and that is the big concern.

It is a lot easier to spot cracks without any coating on the chassis . The only drawback to having a bare chassis is whenever you touch it , it will rust .

Powder coating is very flexable and durable so it does hide cracks. Also very miserable to remove to repair or update. Paint is too.

    Hi guys,
When i submitted the post about powder coating on frame , my question was'nt only oriented to the fact that the cracks was more difficult to see with this coating . What i wanted to know is the fact to rapidly heat and cool a chromoly frame ( 0 to 415 f.degrees to 0 in about 2 hrs ) does altered the property of metal , easier to crack or break , more or less flex in the structure.
    Thanks
    Claude
