Has anyone tried a possible solid suspension in a P/M? Would like to talk to you.

Thinking front and rear solid both, or at least rear.

“Solid” is a pretty relative term. Some compliance would obviously still be present due to chassis flex.

    Open to suggestions.

Basically run a PM more like a TFFC, is kind of like the vein of thought I had in mind.

    Thanks.

Scott Palmers nitro promod has a solid rear and from what I understand Gene Snow is building something similar. Tommy Mauney chassis’s from what I understand compress a couple of inches and then become solid, rear riding on chassis. I have never seen one, but that’s how it was described to me.

I think Jim Oddy ran a solid rear years ago. Not legal in most PM classes now.

From my understading isn't this a simple way of explaining the Inertia Shock which PRS/Penske sells? They have a small amount of movement, then lock position and a user defined control ratchets the shock back to its original position and characteristics so that the car is more drivable down track? I mean a solid bar which you could make is a little cheaper than $18,000 :p

jim Oddy's "Black Maria" corvette ran a torsion arm front suspension and a solid mounted rearend.
i had an old funny car chassis set up just like that and i always wondered about the drivability of the same setup in a door car.
i think the front end would save weight but with very limited tuning possibilities.
is that allowed somewhere in the states?

Interesting. Do you have a link showing how those shocks work?......

No link, but most will probably not give much info as there is a lot of cost involved in the Shocks operations... Any good salesmen will try and sell them to you as the next best thing, but believe me they aren't worth a dime! We run JRI 5 way shocks, and they are worth every cent of what they are in their weight of gold. Call Marc Smith at MSI or any JRI dealer and get yourself a set!

Seems odd to me that often Pro Mods will have trouble getting down track without issue but yet a Funny Car will get down track no problem, just before or after on the same day.
