55mm Cam in KB Olds Block

Looking for some help on the tolerance for opening up the cam journals to accept a 55mm cam. KB doesn't answer so trying to find info is marginal at best.

We are wanting to go to a 55mm cam and want to make sure that a) there is plenty of meat left around the journal and b) how much press fit there should be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Call Lowell @ New Century Engines. He has a 55 mm cam option in his engines-real similar to yours.

 

My New Century block has a 55MM cam in it. I'm not sure, but I think the New Century block has more meat around the cam journals than the KB block, I may be wrong about that though. Like was mentioned, call Lowell at New Century.
