    Scott,

For starters , what tooth style do you want ???? and second THIS IS IMPORTANT what is the centre to centre measurement from the blower snout to the crank bolt ?????
in a perfect straight line of coarse.

This will determine where you need to be with belt length, it is not magic just give some more information.
Then someone will be able to help you\, for sure.

I think you should find an industrial supply house that sale "Gates Poly Chain" , Google it. that's all a blower belt or HD drive belt is , there are many different ones that are not in racing, tooth, lengths, width, and what there made of, try someone like " Applied Industrial Technologies" if you can get someone there to care about your small order that's the trouble I have hade with these type suppliers in the past.

Call the Gates Technical department. They will ask you many detailed questions about load forces, jerk forces, duty cycle, application specifics, etc, etc, etc, and then they will align you with the best solution from their product mix. You have to really go through that process, otherwise you'll just be grabbing a belt and hoping that "maybe" it will work. For industrial applications in the past I have always found Gates to be very willing to help. Don't just guess.....

When you call Gates be ready for the phone to go dead when you tell them what you are building ------ they don't want the liability --------------------------

You could try calling fowler? They have been pretty easy to talk to when I've called with dumb questions and might have a rep they could contact. Cold calling gates seems like a good way to get a headache.

Thanks,I am still trying to figure out how to build this for my mud rail. I keep breaking a single 60 chain.

If you keep breaking a belt. Then maybe something wrong with you tuneup that is causing a backfire up into the blower. Too much ignition retard can cause that, running too lean can also cause it.

    I think I understand what you're thinking......
If it's not a good environment for a chain, it'll more than likely be worse with a belt and aluminum pulleys. Mud had sand, pebbles, and rocks!
Maybe good German double row chain in a completely closed box ?
But then again, those moto bike kids seem to get chain to work,

    Scott's building a transfer case Mike, this isn't a blower belt :)

We built a chain drive case years ago that we used in our Mod 4x4 pulling truck. We wanted something that we could change ratio, and the SCS gear boxes weren't out yet. We used a 4 wide 50 chain. We ran it several seasons and the chains would live unless we got to really severe bouncing (like all 4 wheels off the ground the driver really should have stopped 15 feet ago bouncing :) )

Frankly, I'd look for a used SCS case somewhere and be done with it.

Yes I could go back tongue drawing board and use a double 50 chain instead of the single 60 but I'd really like it to be "trick" and loose a ton of rotating mass while at it. All that stuff is heavy!! I've got no prior knowledge of belts, I see on gates website they list all sorts of belts and lengths with different teeth pitch and size etc. I don't know which one may be stronger than the other. I'm needing a 15% reduction and center to center is like 11 inches if memory serves me right.

Anyone have any overdrive tech help. 498 bbc dart 360 ,grp rods, Ross 8:1 pistons with a stripped 8-71 at 46% over. I put on a mooneyham 14-71 stripped. Do I need to drastically reduce my overdrive ?
