45%rear and 55 front weight 119 wb 1960 Chevy 33x16 tires. 577 cui 5' bs wedge bbc whipple screw efi controlled. Mostly 1/8 mile. 11' mark williams curently 4.30. Dont have a trans yet so i wonder what to look for, 2 or 3 speed? And what trans and rear gear ratios? Heavy car says 3 speed but the high power level maybe lets it get away with a lighter and simpler glide? Will run a converter. Many things to consider and are trying to figure out what trans and rear combination that will work best.
I dont have any experience from this power level and havent ran this car before so a big tuning window is needed and the purpose is to learn and have fun not to set a new world record, on a good track i think realistic et performance shuld be 4.2-4.5. Thanks for any help!

Ok is that a 1.88 first gear ratio? Wow that's fast at 3000 pounds and only 20 over!

Well your limited with that 11" rear on the gearing. Me I would be in the 1.88-2.04 1st with a 33% split. Convertor will play a big role as well.

Yes the "easy" and cheap way will be to let the 4.3 be there and get a nice used 1.8 first superglide 4 but then maybe the easy days turns over to a violent nightmare trying to avoid smoking wheels.
A nice used 2 speed lencodrive or bruno/lenco maybe is the ticket, anyone have anything?
Yes I'm looking at a chance nsx

    I ran 2 speed 400 1:48 first 4:30 rear @ 3000 1.0-1.02 60ft with a 34.5

You may rethink your tire I have had issues with that tire on heavy cars seamed to tire shake easy and violently. I believe the side wall is not stiff enough for the wieght I wound up switching them to 33-10.5 or 34.5 if they had room

I will keep the 4.3 in the rear. I'm afraid 1.88+ on first will be a little to aggressive. Thanks for input

Will keep that tire recommendation in mind, thanks. How much power from what combination was those numbers with 1.48 first?
