I have a new DRCE1 4.840 bore space block, The deck had been drilled for the DRCE/Olds head pattern. Does any of you guys have the layout for the head bolt holes. I talked to Warren Johnson and he said the dowel holes were on the same centerline as the BBC and he repositioned some holes. I have the dimensions for the BBC, I want to compare location of heads bolts.

I contacted them and they said they would not give out their drawings to nobody.. Alan Johnson said everything they had is long gone with the old machinery.

Call Keith Black. The head gaskets I had for my KB Olds had DRCE stamped on them. They sent the blue prints to me when I asked, very helpful. AJ should be able to help also.

How long ago was that? I've tried calling KB for weeks on end before with no answer. Have since changed everything over to BAE, can't beat their customer service.

Maybe try giving BAE a call if you can't get ahold of KB. I'm sure Jeremy would be able to point you in the right direction or know someone that can.

I am finally building another racecar. I have a new DRCE1 block with the DRCE1head bolt pattern already done and 8 lifter bores. I want to build this engine and put it in my tube chassis Malibu. Thinking maybe another 14-71 blown 500 cid engine with the goal of 1600 hp. Pretty reasonable goal. I don't want to have to buy a set of castings then have the whole head machined. What I think is the Dart big chief 18 degree head has the same deck face and can be drilled and tapped to use the same 4 bolts from the intake valley per side. I want to confirm that there is enough material in the head bolt columns in the casting to reposition the head bolt holes in a head with just the common bolt holes drilled. The others I can do. This does two things for me. Puts me in a cheaper head and won't need custom built rockers. T&D and Jesel both make rockers for the Big Chief heads. My alternative would be to buy solid Big Chief heads minus the bolt holes that need moved. But I still need to know whats the same and whats different.

For what you will have in this combo you could have bought a good , fresh, used hemi and saved yourself a lot of headaches..... 20000.00 will buy a hell of a nice hemi .... MBR, BAE , etc. even with an older hemi design it will make more power, more reliably, than a BBC. Will Hanna ,on here ,has one of Ed Shmekle's (sic) 477 ci mbr motors for sale at approx 20k. I used to run a Chevy, it was ok, my only regret though .... Was not building a hemi to start with.

Jody, not everyone wants a skinny blonde with big boobs.... well maybe that's not a good comparison......not everyone wants a stinking hemi! LOL!
Call Hussey Gaskets. That's where we get our Olds Big Chief head gaskets for a New Century block and they sent me the drawing so I could check to make sure it was the correct gasket for our combo. Good people to work with.

I don't want a hemi, I know there is a lot of good used and affordably priced hemis out there. Yeah I get that. But who wants to be like everybody else? I bought this new block for way less that a used hemi block would cost. This is going to be a long project for me as I am the sole bread winner in this family. I can afford stuff here and there and will eventually get it done. But when I am done I still have a new engine not built with other peoples junk. I have a friend that runs an altered and went the hemi route with used parts. Now he is back in a BBC. And there is also the fact that my car is set up for one, motor plates, done, exhaust, done, tranny, done, convertor, done. those are small things to a lot of you guys but to me its less I have to spend.
Whats wrong with the blonde with average boobs?

Just spoke to Ken Black a couple of days ago, He has picked up some new business partners from what I understand so now may be a better time to reach him.
