Pro Mod oiling system Wet sump vs. Dry Sump

    I am building a new PM car with the intentions of running some divisional T/S and eventually migrating into Pro Boost if I can run the numbers. I'm on the fence on whether or not I want/need a dry sump system. I would like to mount the tank when I mount the fuel cell. It's a Mcamis chassis so I can get a tank already designed for it. I'm not a fan of unnecessary weight, or spending $$ I don't need to. The motor will be a BAE hemi, roots blown and I will primarily run 1/8th mile stuff with the exception being the TS races.
    What do you guys like for this set up and why?

    I think the Pro-Mod guys should chime in here too....but I will give ya info on my decision.....125" altered chassis....
    Ran a System One dry sump in the last car (alcohol) with 20 quarts total oil - began with 4 in motor and 16 in tank before the run....pretty close to equal quantity of oil in the pan and dry sump tank at the end of the run...had no ground clearance with the last chassis so dry sump was about the only solution (very shallow oil pan)...
    Built a NFC combo for the new car in 2013....413 C.I. nitro motor....didn't really wanna drain both the oil pan and dry sump tank on oil change as we hafta change oil every run now....so I consulted System One and got some very good advice....they said to run the smaller 1.800" gear length instead of the top fuel pump (2.100" gear length) with a wet sump pump.....the larger pump could empty the oil pan with all of the volume....
    We made sure to get the correct oil restrictors for the rocker feed....
    We run 15 quarts in the pan now...wet....never any bearing or crankshaft damage....15 seems like a lot of oil but Richard at System One said that there is a few quarts in the valley....one in each head...one in the filter....one in the lines....one in the oil passages in the block...etc....so no chance of having the oil level above crank throws during the run....
    There is one other issue.....in favor of dry sump....might be a little safer to have the dry sump tank if ya kick out a rod....less chance of oil on the track with just the engine side of the system dumping out oil...

    I use a mcamis tank, Moroso funny car Pan and Titan top fuel pump. It holds like 16 quarts and 160-180 psi oil. It works really well. However I drilled the heads and block for faster drain back to the pan. The hole in the block is like .460. Went with a over size .520 drill bit and never had a problem. I've seen guys use cheap pumps and have to drain the oil pan ever run because it's some modified thing that doesn't work worth a dam. I have same combo your building. 3.91@196 roots Hemi. 5.90s @245 1/4.

    You are probably going to want to run a dry sump system with a tank primarily for the quartermile TS racing. You are going to be hard pressed to get enough oil capacity in a wet sump pan in a door car to make a quartermile run AND SHUTDOWN.

    Olson makes a wet sump pan put 14-16 qts in it and your good to go. For qtr mile a dry sump would be the way to go.
