Are all the burnout stops that go on the throttle cable at the injector/hat the same? I would like to use one, but not sure how far the throttle needs to open to keep the RPM where it needs to be during the burnout. Is it possible to change the length of the stop to adjust RPM? I currently use the burnout rev limiter in the Grid for this, but don't like hitting the rev limiter all the time.

A lot of the old school guys will tell you if you don't have the throttle control to do a burnout without a stop you shouldn't be driving a race car. I'm not that hard nosed. But I will say, I have used stops before, they work good, the problem is my crew guys not removing them and me sitting on the line waving my arms so they take it out. I am attempting to devise a 2 stage throttle spring that has a slight detent so I can feel it, but then continues to full. Plus I'm practicing the no stop method also. Takes some practice.

I used to do it with no rev limiter or stop, but I'm getting old and need all the crutches I can get. LOL

Just use the Grid burn out limiter as a safety device and learn not to hit the limiter. Use is a a training tool. What rpm do you have it set at now?

I've found if your throttle return springs are too strong, it is easy to go over board on RPM as it is harder to control engine speed. I prefer light springs and no limiter as you sometimes need some extra pedal to not hook the tires when the track crew does not water the track enough. Set your burnout rev control the same as your run RPM control and you'll never go above that RPM. If you touch it you'll know and can adjust your foot to that. If you just want to floor it on the burnout each time, you can use the stop but will have no control of changing conditions.

To answer your question the stops are all on the short side. You slide washers over the cable to get the burnout rpm where you want it. If your guy forgets to remove it you got the wrong guy.

I never used one with the alcohol cars.lots more fun that way. Tried not using one twice on the nitro car. Looked like a monkey with a football. Never again.

One has to ask what the monkey was doing to the football...

In a bracket racing setting, small variations to the burnout will affect the converter fluid temp at stage, which can effect performance.

Well, lets just say the football was wore out when the monkey finished with it.

No, but nitro burnouts without a stop sure wore me out. Now that I have my throttle stop back all is good.
