I bought a used CS2 Lenco transmission. It is said to have a 1.64 first gear ratio. When I pull it apart, how do I tell what gear ratios I actually have?

    COMPUTING TRANSMISSION RATIOS

    CS-1 GEAR TOOTH COUNT

The first column to the left is the case ratio. The second column from the left is the RING Gear tooth count. The third column from the left is the PLANETARY Gear count. The fourth column from the left is the SUN gear count.

    1.2527 91 34 23
    1.2808 89 32 25
    1.3125 80 27 25
    1.3378 74 24 25
    1.3676 68 21 25
    1.3734 83 26 31
    1.3815 76 23 29
    1.4096 83 24 34
    1.4383 (Early Style) 73 20 32
    1.4430 (Late Style) 79 22 35
    1.4625 80 22 37
    1.4819 83 22 40
    1.5000 68 17 34
    1.5616 73 16 41
    1.6813 91 15 62

So you have to count the teeth on the large unit that the whole clutch pack drops into that is the ring gear and match it to the chart I provided. Then count the teeth on the SUN gear which is really the hollow shaft that the clutch pack is centered around then look that up on the chart for a cross check that it agrees with the ring gear on the chart.

Or compute it out by dividing the Sun Gear by the Ring gear and add 1 = RATIO

Once you have established the ratios for each unit then multiply them together to get the first gear ratio. For second gear it will be the ratio read from the above chart. 3rd gear is always 1:1 in a 3 speed.

I forgot. I gave you all the CS-1 ratios so it may not match your CS-2 but like I said divide the SUN gear by the RING gear and add 1. Then multiplay the two ratios you found to get first gear.
