ignition timing retards at revs

    Haven't checked it.... Never seen a problem on a sbf... But msd said that none of that matters' running a crank trigger

    Its a almost new 7AL-3 Black ignition ...New MSD dist locked out.. MSD crank trigger

    Our timing has done this for as long as we've used a crank trigger, which is many years and different engine combinations. We always bring the revs up to at least 5000 to set the timing. I don't have the answer as to why, but have assumed it was a normal thing.

    I always wondered if it was lagging on the sensor' Since this Balancer has a long hub, that sticks the wheel out so far ... I can't believe how long the hub is on this IW balancer

    Yes belt tension causes this.
