Seeking some advice on timing retard. Running a 355 sbc blown dragster on alky. Performance is mid 6.80's @ 195 @ 7900 rpm through the traps. Running 35 degrees advance through a 7AL-3 red box. Have the box set to pull out timing in high gear if I want (relay etc.,) Currently zero'd. Is there any benefit to pulling out high gear timing in terms of ET or mph on this 355 engine? It's not a high horsepower AJ hemi which I'm told benefits with high rpm retard. My engine I would say is +/- 1100 hp (never dyno'd).... Should I just leave it alone @ 35? If the advice is to pull some timing...how much?....2 degrees from 35 lead? I want to pick up a tenth to safely make our TD series shows.
Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank ITA
