Have to order some pumps in the next little bit. How does Waterman stack up against Rage? Thanks.

Rage is the best........ Period. Rage is the only one to have in Top Fuel and Funny car. Also head and shoulders above the rest in nostalgia fuel classes. His alcohol pumps are demonstrably better also. All Rage pumps are built to order by hand and flow tested by the dude that hand makes your pump. Every billet part and steel gears are made by Mike with materials sourced from USA suppliers in South Carolina with his son Tommy.

And when you order the pump every upgrade is on it already. Waterman needs a few mods after you get it to stop the cavitation that every waterman pump has.

I bought a rage due to cavitation issues in waterman pumps. Lots of guys run them though.

Can you tell us about your waterman cavitation?
    Which pump?
    How many RPM/GPM?
What was happening that told you it was cavitating?
    What size inlet?

I have not seen a difference between the Rage and Waterman pumps as far as quality and fuel delivery. If the pump produces and maintains the flow then you can tune for it. Neither one of these pumps is magic and will make you go faster or not burn up a motor that is the tuner. As far as the cavitation on the Waterman you have to be hitting some high rpms with lots of GPMs to see it in the older Waterman pumps. Not sure that cavitation occurs in the new Waterman pumps. When they cavitated at high rpm then looking at fuel flow and pressure you would see a roll off of both. I would have no problems using a Waterman or a Rage or even an Aeromotive pump.

Dude, if you are going to buy a new pump anyway, for the same money or less why not buy the best pump available. A RAGE pump dominates TF and TFFC ,also the nostalgia funny car champion and Tony Bartone run his pumps. Any A Fuel car that is a hitter runs his pump. Mike is right about the waterman pump, it will work and run, but is it the best....... NO. Call me at 843-921-8653 and I'll text you a photo of a fuel flow chart the graphs the cavitation on a waterman ( modified by Randy Anderson to not cavitate ) VS a Stock RAGE pump. Their is a difference, a well known Convertor manufacturer ran the same tuneup on two identical motors and similar cars, the pumps were the only diff, the car with the rage pump was always quicker and faster. He could not believe the difference.

If the car is faster on one pump than the other then the problem is the tuner not tuning the car correctly and not the difference between a Rage and a Waterman. If it got faster when he switched to a Rage then he had the fuel curve wrong on the Waterman but the Rage pump came to his fuel curve.

I think what he is saying is that even when it's fixed it still isn't fixed , being waterman pumps . Some people got ahold of good waterman pumps. And some people have gotten ahold of bad ones. For the average guy why fight a fuel curve issue if you doing have too. Rage is clearly a better pump or the whole Nhra pros wouldn't be using them .

What he said ^^^^^^^^. Sure you can get another pump, work it over, or just get lucky. You can tune around a lot of shit..... But why would you want too. RAGE pumps need nothing , bolt it on and never worry about it again. Unless you pass some shit through it.
