O.K. one more quick Question. Do any of you fellas filter the fuel before the pump? I'm having a hard time finding a spot for the filter after the pump.
    Thanks

Never heard of anyone doing that before. Most people put it just after the pump. Some pumps offer fittings that thread the filter into the pump head. 2 less fitting and hose to leak.

I have had the best success with the stainless steel mesh filter that goes into the input of the barrel valve. You can get them from RBS Superchargers.

    Thank You

Thanks for the advice. I have the filter screwed into the pump now but I'm afraid it'll be in the way of the starter. I think ill give the inline screen a shot. Thank You Again

I use a System 1 between the tank and the fuel pump ( # 16 line ) . Bought this Waterman pump new from Sid in 2003. Has about 1800 miles on it. Not a mark on the inside of it !

    Filter

I also use a system one 1 1/4" between the tank and pump. It works great. I added a # 10 fitting on the bottom with a cap to make it super easy to drain all the fuel out after the weekend so the system is stored dry.

I called System 1 about one of these filters a few years ago. they advised they did not make them any longer.
I use an XRP mini filter after the pump. works great.

I've had the chance to check a few filters on the flow bench recently, and have seen the normal type most people would use.. with a 100 micron element, drop between 10 and 40 pounds of pressure. 100 micron seems to be the coarsest that most the manufacturers do, except for XPR who offer 120 micron.
100 micron is about .004" and 120 about .005", which is really finer than we need if we're just worried about blocking a nozzle.
The barrel valve style that Mike refers to is 250 micron (.010") but much smaller area. I haven't had the chance to check one of these yet but I will.

If you're running a car that needs high fuel volume, you need to minimize the losses - so a filter with the largest (longest) element you can use, with the highest micron rating they sell.
Personally I wouldn't have anything before the pump. The gear pumps are designed to push fuel, not suck, and you don't want a restriction on that side.

So alkydrager, if you don't have the room for a full filter I think you're better to go with the barrel valve type, and if you have 2 lines into the the distribution block you could use 2 for less restriction as SoDak suggested.

I flowed my combination to see if they were causing too much psi drop, that is how I ended up with 2 of these http://www.rbssuperchargers.com/Products/Fuel_Filter_Inline_-6_Thru_-16--2600-0019 as 1 at the metering valve inlet screwed with my tune and I'm only putting in about 10 GPM max.

I use the Enderle filter on the suction side and I measured no restriction in my setup, that screen is big at about 4" in diameter.

I ran a 30 Micron filter and it collapsed on me and pumped glue into system.
I just put a 70 micron in. Hopefully that's big enough.
This was system one, long style after pump.
