Hi, I am new to pro mod and bought a Vanishing point 63 Vette w/ the Hairy glass ultra light body and wanted to put my 11" MW modular rear in the car to add weight and durability. Problem is the 4 link mounts are 16" on the car and with them at 16 1/4" on the fab rear end that came with it the 4 link bars are about 1/2" from the tires and the smallest 4 link center MW makes is 17" or 17 1/4" for the 11" rear. I can make the rear end wider overall but the tires are approx 1/2" from the fenders as it is w/ a 33 and 5/8" rear overall.

Does anyone have a 63 Vette w/ the Hairy glass body and run an 11" MW modular rear? If so what is your 4 link center on the chassis and rear, how did you keep the 4 link bars from hitting the tires and the tires from hitting the fenders?

    Thanks,
    Trevor Sherwood

    11" Rear

    Hi Bruce,

I spoke w/ Jim yesterday and he says they have done it using 18" centers on the chassis and rear, 35" overall axle width and 5" backspacing on the wheels. The MW website shows 35 1/2" overall but this may have changed.

Something doesn't seem quite right though as I can barely stick my hand between the 4 link bar on the p/s and I can't stick it though on the d/s. Our old rear end was 33 and a 1/2 or maybe 5/8" and the tires only have about 1 inch to 1 and 3/8" we have 4" back spacing on the wheels...which I got from Uncle Tim :) I think I am going to unbolt the bottom 4 link bars and move them to 17" center and see where everything sits.

    Uncle Tim,

We sold both funny cars and had the dragster all together less push rods (which were ordered) but the PDRA payout for that class just wasn't were I had hoped it would be, so it made more sense to run the pro mod. Easier to get sponsors, way more races to attend, and way higher payouts for the same cost to run. We have the dragster listed for sale and once that goes then the pro mod will be done in approx 6 months with all of the best parts money can buy and brand new as well. I have been in a legal battle with both the VA and Social Security so I couldn't hit a track even if I had the car done but I am not giving up and am just starting to make a little headway in the legal matters. We have a beautiful pro mod with a $20,000 paint job that would make you proud. I am still using your old fire suit and rear wheels so in essence you are riding with me.= :)

It is purple, yellow, and red, only we updated the front wheels to black and silver Weld V series, the rears will be The Trak stars I bought from you (Which haven't leaked in ounce of air since I bought them from you like 8 years ago...) only we will have them powder coated black with some aluminum showing to match the new fronts. We have the complete roller less the racepak sensors for my v-300sd, we have the complete trans/converter setup, and I have heads, valve covers, injector hat, and fuel system and am working on the block and intake right now so it will happen as soon as the dragster sells.

    Dreams

It will in due time, after 20 years I have not given up and I won't quit now. Just still fighting the VA for back pay owed and SSD for benefits and back pay.

I am very happy with the pro mod and from a financial stance as well as a racing one it makes sense. I am at a point where I am starting to find some semblance of peace and it is making things a little easier on me.

What did you think of the car? I think I can stuff that 11" under there which will also save time and money in the long run :)
