    John,
When we ran the B-2 rods, we cycled them every 12-14 runs.
Since switching to the GRP Rod, we have cycled them out between 22 and 26 runs, without a rod failure. (knock on wood).

Of Course, I baby my parts.

    Merry Christmas,
    Marty

How many passes do you think the GRP's would be good for if you only turned it 8000 rpm? I've lost 2 sets of BME's this year w/ only 5 passes on them and am switching.

Our B-2'S failed at 6 runs once this season, no other problems evident. We'll be switching to GRP's next season.

I have asked this Same Rod question to alot of people. I see alot people running "cheaper rods" Like brooks 88 and B2 rods.. Then you have BME and GRP around double the price. I was told by a few TAD racers .. "We are going to change rods 10-15 laps down the track no matter the cost" Right after that I was told if you lose a Brooks rod you send the block out to get a hole fixed if you lose a GRP chances are you Just send out for a new shortblock because the GRPs are so hard it takes out everything on its way out the side..

I guess I would consider our engines to be run at high RPM. When the driver is not very sharp (most of the time), it is not uncommon to see 10,300 rpm. Still the GRP rods seem to last us about twice as long as any other we've tried. They do not cost twice as much. I pay about 10%-15% more for them than I paid for the others. Considering we get another 80% to 100% more service out of them, without as many failures, they are a great investment to me.
They are somewhat harder than a forged rod, but it's not going to make large differences in damages, most of the time. Besides, if you don't break them, nothing gets beat up.

    Merry Christmas,
    Marty

Here's a little food for thought maybe we don't run our stuff very hard but we use GRP rods and put at least 30 runs on them unless something has gone bad broken lifter etc. Dave
