I was just told by Trey Capps at NHRA that A/Fuel competitors must run Sunoco nitro at NHRA events.

I don't know if there is a color difference or how they are policing it, but that was a question in Pomona if the A/Fuel teams could use up their old nitro. Apparently the answer is no.

    So just a heads up.

    Sunoco Nitro

Wondering when that was going to come up...
In the past, NHRA made a big deal out of running VP at the Nat'l events, but looked the other way at Regionals; will they do the same now? Sunoco at Nat'l & ?? elseware?
I still have a barrel of VP & one of DSM at the shop, gotta burn it somewhere.
What's the price of Sunoco? Barrels 20% empty, but priced higher than full DSM barrels, like VP did?

    Clif,
I just found this on the D3 website.

Sunoco is the 2015 NHRA Accepted Nitromethane Supplier

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    2/6/2015

Per the 2015 NHRA rulebook General Regulations, Section 20, 1:6 Fuel, pages 6 &7 (see below); Sunoco is the ONLY NHRA-accepted nitromethane supplier for both NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events and NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events.

“Nitromethane: Only nitromethane from an NHRA-accepted on- site supplier may be present on-site or used on-site at any NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event (“NHRA National Event”) or NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event (“NHRA Divisional Event”). To be eligible for competition, any team using nitromethane must use nitromethane from an accepted on-site supplier. At this time, the only accepted on-site supplier is Sunoco Racing Fuels. Fuel anywhere on-site at an NHRA National Event or NHRA Divisional Event, including without limitation, in the vehicle, transporter, pit area, or at the NHRA- accepted supplier’s on-site location, may be checked at any time and for any reason, including compliance with this rule and with the Nitromethane specification. Any participant who violates any rule regarding nitromethane may be banned from competition at the applicable event, and shall be subject to such other penalty deemed appropriate by NHRA.”

    Another nail in our coffin

More typical dictatorial bullshit from the idiots in Glendale- Somebody lines somebody's pocket with a cut of the sales????? Where the hell was Sunoco when we were scrambling to find out who was taking orders for Chinese nitro?
