I'm building a dry sump tank (using system one dry sump pump with loop) and need to know what the optimum amount of oil should be in the tank? I've read many different opinions from 12 to 20 quarts. I'm thinking 16 quarts, but I'd like to hear some comments before I start on the tank.
    Thanks, Gordon

The Moroso one says 20 quart but we only put 16 in it. You can run that tank as low as 13. But it's sketchy. Becareful. I built my own tank and it was awesome , did everything I wanted it to. Except keep oil psi after shoots were out. Was told it was normal! 2 engines $45,000 later it was the oil tank that was causing my nightmares. Changed the tank out and have psi now when chutes come out. My earrings aren't ugly any more . So plan inside that tank carefully. I would never build my own tank again!

You put the Moroso tank in your car... Did you get the bare aluminum or the powder coated version?
Where's the best deal at for one of those?

Bare alu one. Mcamis is where mine came from. You can tell them What fittings you need welded on it too. I put the heating element inside mine as well. Boil the meth out of the oil at the end of the day. Seems like a great plan so far.

It all depends on which drysump tank you have. I have 3 different ones from moroso in our dragster at one point or another. Depending on line length oil filter and pan changes things slightly. We run 16qts have run as little as 12 but we aren't worried about weight so add the extra gallon helps with oil life and dilution.
Any questions feel free to give me a call. Pm me for the number

Jay I think you have some good advice. On my last car I built the dry sump tank, but it was cylindrical, not rectangle so not nearly as complicated and it worked for 10 years and I never once had a bearing issue. I think I'll try to find one of the Moroso tanks instead of building one.
Maybe someone here has a used one for sale.
