Have you called Tom and asked him? Tom's 9.5 gears are cut on the same machine as the 10" gears so the teeth on both the ring and pinion are wider than most.

Is it really that much better? Like my us9.5 4.56 gear last around 1-1.5 seasons. That's usually 50 runs for me. For much further does toms go

    generated from....

The 9.5" and 10" are generated from that size tooling. Both measure 9.400" O.D. If a case has been run with a 9.5", the generated 10" will clear the case, but you will need a longer front pinion support body. (there is a spacer available, but misses the o-ring seat properly, good luck !)
The housing face may be an issue with the notches. Easy fix is to buy a new model Fel-Pro #2302 gasket, use it to mark housing face and machine notches larger, if necessary.

So what your saying bob is if iv been running the 9.5 us gear then I should be able to fit his ten inch? I just had to touch my housing in two spots to clear the 9.5.how much do you have to move the pinion forward ? I tried calling today after I got off work but he wasn't their.wonder if he makes a spacer for the moser?

Yes, the teeth are slightly larger and the housing MAY have to be altered. I'm not sure of the exact dimension of the longer pinion, but it's about .250 longer where the bearing rides. If Moser uses a standard 5 bolt pattern, my guess is any of the new deeper pinion supports will fit, they may even have one by now. I just wasn't personally thrilled with a spacer.

There are now 4 manufacturers of the generated 10" gear set, "your results may vary"

When it starts making a weird harmonic rattling towing it thru the pits. I never hear it besides towing it.

    chrisman

we had chrisman send strange a new gear(its from motive gear ) . strange set it up in a brand new ultra case

we got 2 runs before it started making noise . and after 6 runs we did not want to tow it back from other end

we got a toms 10 inch . and 30 runs later its quiet

I would not run a motivegear/chrisman ever again

    check

I have always found rolling the tires backwards with the driveshaft disconnected is a good way to start feeling tight spots.

    Tight spots

So how noticeable are the tight spots, would be hard to feel or very easy to tell?
never checked this way just wondering?
    Thanks Don

    tight spots

It will start where you can barely feel it rolling the tire and progress to the point it damn near sticks it. When you can feel it pretty good you only have a few runs left.

Normally if it's just starting to get tight and I'm midway through a race, I will finish the race and fix it between races. If it's got a pretty good tight spot and you have most of the race to run, best to change it before it causes other damage from zinging the motor.
