    Hi guys.
Looking for a starting point for timing on a 521 bbf meth injected with bird catcher and 110 pump. Had the system flowed and returned ready to go now trying to get a starting point for ignition. Soo much info on Chevy but can't find anything on bbf. Heard of some guys running as low as 14 deg timing all in and up to 36. Happy to start ultra rich and work towards lean but would love to hear from someone who has run one in the past to atleast get a starting point. Thankyou in advance.

What heads do you have on it and what compression ratio?

Not sure that I can help you. I only used the hemi heads and we never went more than 26 degrees. Carroll Carter of C&C Motorsports would know at (703)368-7878 or email at raceman18@juno.com

It will also matter if its a points style magneto (typically Mallory mag) or electronic (typically MSD), I've heard this is about 4-5 degrees (I have not tested this).

It also matters if the mag is driven via a solid cross or a plastic advance lockout, this is about 3-4 degrees difference, in my experience.

According to the MSD back room guys a points magneto when loaded will retard 3 degrees. If you use a Crank trigger then you don't have to worry about slack in the mag drive but if you have that much then time to replace the mag drive or get it rebuilt.

Running an msd 8 with a mike dunn offset dizzy. So bigger chamber heads mean more timing or less timing generally speaking???

    10# Boost

I can't help but to be curious, where does the 10# of boost come from?

Last time this motor ran before it destroyed itself it showed 10pd boost.
    Lesson learnt.
Had fuel system flowed this time but trying to get clarification on timing as there is very little out there for the fords.

Generally speaking bigger chambers require more timing advance.
