    Pushrod lengths

In my experiences with hemi and rocker arms, even a few thousandths pushrod length difference CAN make a difference. On one engine, .050 difference in length was all it took to A: rub the pushrod sleeves in the head and B: miss the little bit of oil available and ran dry destroying several pushrod cups. Do NOT think that the 1 1/4" adjuster will "fix" the pushrod length. In my case, I had to have the pushrods made to such a length that I can BARELY get them under the rocker and adjuster and the adjuster is withdrawn all the way BUT I have had no further oiling or rubbing problems.

That being said, I would suggest to not just buy what might be close or works for others but to assemble your combo and MEASURE the longest pushrod that will fit. Heck, cut a ruined pushrod in half and make a threaded insert to find the proper length. Been there and DONE all of that!

    pushrod measuring kit

    Hi,

Manton sells a pushrods measuring kit for I think $40. Worth the money and will save you a lot of hassle and burned up/thrown pushrods.

Personally I would not try to guess because if the heads or block have been decked at a different height than anyone else's or the stands were cut a bit off you will have very different lengths from the next guy.

    Best wishes,
    Trevor Sherwood

I would also recommend getting a Manton Pushrod measuring kit or make such a tool yourself - it`s really easy.
We bought our pushrods as a "Do it your self kit" from Manton (Series 5), used our homemade tool, and made our own pushrods here in the shop with the help from a hydraulic press.
Really easy, guaranteed to get the right lengths and no waiting around for someone else to do it for you.

Gather the guys, some beers and it`ll be a nice evening:D

have a bunch of pushrods for fathead and fuelheads all mixed up, just trying to sort them out so i figure the difference between them is quite big.
