Looking for opinions about using the 4in TF tire on a 125in fiat altered. I'd like to keep the wheels but now having my doubts about tripod suspension. Maybe a torsion bar axle would be better? The car might go 225mph

That tire will be fine on a standard narrow rim as would a regular narrow tire. Either will hold up to the weight with no problems...... However, a narrow front or even the four inch front may be prone to lock and slide unless the brakes are proportioned more to the rear. A funny car size tire will steer the car better though... More rubber on the ground.

We use the 17" dragster wheels with the smaller width tires on our car. I want a set of the 4" wides for mine. As far as strength, no problem what so ever. As far as the strength of a tripod front end, there is a lot more weight on the front of a F/C than our altereds will ever see, especially with the down force of their bodies. I don't run brakes on the front of my car, they really don't work as well with a dragster tire anyway. Just my 2 cents

What about the loss of suspensionability fron the higher pressure. What about striking the slicks on a bump or gear change? Thats what has me second guessing a torsion bar axle.

All I can speak from is my own personal experience, and I have never had an issue.......nor have I ever heard of anyone having an issue.
