I am highly interested in learning to tig weld. I have had a little instruction on stick welding at work which got me interested to learn tig. So to do this I want to buy a machine. I was offered to buy a miller econotig for 1300 dollars. I know the guy who is selling it and I know it is practically brand new with only a few minutes of welding on it. he bought it and never used it. im just not sure how old it is. From the welders I have talked to it seems to be this is quite a high dollar amount for what it is. I am looking into buying something along the lines of a miller diversion 180. Buying something used would be ideal if I can find something worth buying and spending the money on. does anyone have any better suggestions they could help me out with?

keep your eyes out for a miller Dynasty 200 machine very nice little machine with lots of power ac and dc..... it is a perfect in the trailer welder small lite and it is an inverter machine.
I have a dynasty 350 in the shop swiched from a syncrowave that I had had for to many years to count and a dynasty 200 in the trailer if you are just getting started the dynasty will be easy for you to learn on......

I have a eastwood 200 amp ac/dc welder i bought from eastwood, i took it out of the box looked up the settings on the top of the machine and went to welding. it tells you your heat settings for the metal thickness and dials you in real close. it even tells you where to set your gas flow. It also welds aluminum and does a good enough job that i repaired one of my KB blocks. I also front and back halved a dragster, along with numerous tabs and brackets. It is small enough to go in the trailer and runs of 110 or 220. only draw back that i can see is that you cant weld for long periods of time, and needs time to cool properly, which has never been an issue for me. I only paid $800.00 for it but if you watch sometimes you can get it for cheaper. I had a miller econo tig before this until someone helped themselves to it. Verry happy with it and strongly recommend it. Les

The inverter machines everybody is raving about have driven the price of big conventional machines down. I sold several miller syncrowave 350s and 351s for between 1000 and 1200.00 with pedals and coolers.
They are heavy and eat a lot of power but they will weld anything and have good reliability. When an inverter machine breaks it generally goes in the trashcan.
I wouldn't mind a little inverter rig for the trailer. My 351 will probably get passed on to my kids.

What is the difference between a syncrowave 210 I believe it is and a dynasty 200? Other than about 1200 more for the dynasty. Is it just a matter of size? for what im doing and plan on learning on, I don't see myself needing to spend extra money on an inverter just to keep in the garage to learn on. Especially if I can find a used one cheap. So if anyone know someone who is selling one im currently looking all the time online if the price is right.

Im leaning towards the eastwood ac/dc 200amp. especially since I have a new eastwood store 10 minutes from my house. I have a hard time seeing myself spend a minimum of 1500 on a machine I don't know how to use and something to begin as a hobbyist. if I learn more maybe I will move up to a better machine.
