My thrust got beat up after just a couple passes. Not sure why this happened, I run a TCI 139 tooth flywheel with a adapter and a Cameron converter. Converter spacing is .100 from all the way back to the flywheel. (everything looks right). Had a v bearing on the thrust, switching to a M. Any ideas why this might have happened?

I run .187 clearance and tore up a V. Switched to an M for a few hits and it was better but not cured. I grooved the upper V bearing from the oil hole rearward and it seems a lot better now.

This always help, but we chamfer the bearing along the part line to the rear.

Will the groove work on the M bearing, or is it to soft? Have any pics?

I think it will work on the m. We went 45 degrees off the oil hole in the direction of rotation. Just made a groove with a needle file. Next time apart ill chamfer it at the parting line as mentioned.
I've heard of guys sanding the thrust surface for extra clearance but I'm not sure what that gains.

Spacing should be .125 minimum to 1.87 per Rossler

I have talked to some that do not run the adapter on a 6 bolt converter. Anybody else do this?
