Help. There's power at the main connector harness pins, but the unit won't power up. However, it does connect to the laptop okay. Ground is good. Any ideas?

You have TWO power inputs. The ORANGE wire should be hooked to a direct 12volt source and the RED wire goes to a 12 volt switched source such as you ignition on switch. Sounds like you have no power on the RED wire so it is not switching on. Or you have lost ground on your BLACK wire.

Thanks mike. Will try when I get to the shop. We were following the pro mag wiring diagram where it shows the red wire is not used. We hooked the orange up to switched power (EM power module). Can I hook both red and orange to the EM switched power?

Another question - my throttle switch is pneumatic, with one Hobbs switch set to trigger the clutch and fuel timers through a leahy 15-stage timer when we hit the loud pedal. The other Hobbs switch was powering the 8971 I just took off the car (replacing with powergrid). Should this be hooked to the red wire? Then it will have power as long as the air is on/throttle is depressed? I might be concerned about doing it this way as the air would cut if I had to pedal it. I have an open air port that I could use to trigger the powergrid, but I'm thinking it might be best to keep the powergrid separate from the air system. I just need a way to trigger the powergrid so it knows when to activate.

Yes you can hook both the red and orange wires to the same power source. You have to trigger the Grid via the blue wire. Putting 12 volts on the blue wire resets it and taking power off the blue wire triggers it. The only way I can visualize doing with your system is to have 12 volts on the blue wire via the Normal Closed contacts on a Bosch black cube relay hooked to the Hobbs switch so when you hit the pedal you apply power to the relay which opens the NC contacts and triggers the GRID but if you pedal you will reset it. Maybe somebody can chime in here

You could put a switch on your clutch pedal to apply 12v to the blue wire for 2 step and your launch retard. Also the brown white wire is a timed/rpm switch that can be programmed various ways and used in conjunction with the blue wire. It activates when the 12v is removed from the blue wire.

    Powergrid with promags

Thanks guys. Do you know of a way to adapt the powergrid for use with dual promags?
