    Question

I'am using a Double Burst Pannel on my PSI "D" Blower and a single
Burst Pannel on my Intake Manifold (both located in the rear).

After almost every run, the inner Burst Pannel of the Double one on
the Blower breaks and pieces of it got eaten from the engine.
The Pannel on the Manifold is fine and I never got problems with that.
It happened at 4 runs in a row.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks TIMO

It would suggest that have a backfire into the intake manifold. Some if the causes are running too lean causing detonation or a problem with an intake valve allowing ignition of the fuel in the manifold. This could be a leaking valve, a sticking valve or a bad valve spring. Have you performed a leakdown test? How much burn are you showing on the sparkplugs? Another cause could be crossfire in the ignition from a crack in the mag cap or the plug wire insulation breaking down causing spark to jump to another cylinder. Those are a few of the possible causes. Maybe some other racers can suggest other causes.

Do you have a data logger that records boost? If so do you see a spike in the boost during the run?

Don't they double burst panels flex with the boost pressure causing them to break prematurely? I thought they had a bolt or set screw that you could put pressure against the inner panel with to stop the flex

Jody we run single burst panels with a screw blower and have no problems. The FC had dual panels but never burst one. He has a problem.

    TAD burst panels

    Timo,

It is not uncommon for the TAD's at the overdrive we are at to only get 1 to 4 runs tops on the inner burst panel. I have tried multiple brands with similar results.

Congrats on your runs in Santa Pod.

Could easily be related to the spark plug issue you reported elsewhere ... a spark leak could be causing a cross fire.

It looks like the Ignition is not the problem. I also had that problem when
the Spark Plug was still fine (on other runs) and also we have the same
problem on my Brothers Engine (same combination).

Could it be that when I close the throttle blades in the finish line that the
Engine will suck the Burst Pannel in? Cause in the middle behind the inner
Burst Pannel there is a balk / bridge and you can see that there are scretches
on the inner Burst pannel inner side. Also it looks that the Burst Pannel goes
to the inner direction of the Engine, not to the outside where it have to.

I will look if I still have the broken Burst Pannel and post a picture here later.

on your last post you, answered your own question. yes the inner panel is sucking in when you close the blades. if the screw in the bridge is not there or not adjusted properly, this will happen, ask me how i know.
