Just started using the Mike Canter plug reading instructions on Dragstuff - good stuff - thank you Mike. Procharged Top Dragster 20lbs boost, alky, BBC. So I guess this question is for Mike:

Question 1 - do you have to start with new plugs each tuning change? I need to go leaner so I think the answer is that I can re-use the plugs and watch the burned-off cad moving towards the first thread on the same plug.

Question 2 - I drive my car down the return road. So I have been doing my plug reading with #2 and #7 - I take them out at the end of the track, put some old ones in
and drive back and then analyze the "run plugs". Is this necessary - do you think I could drive back then check them?

I'll post some pics if the Atco Lucas race doesn't get rained out.

If the motor is that rich that there is no burn on the plugs then use them again because it is not that critical until you start burning off the cad. Spray them clean with break cleaner and put them back in. The other thing to do is just change a couple in the hottest cylinders until you start seeing the cad burn. Once you get the the cad burning off the plug the next step is to get all the cylinders burning the same amount. Once all are balanced then you can again just have one or two new plugs to watch what is going on.

Based on the way my plugs look after a warmup, I would not trust a reading after driving back to the pits. Besides, real t/d's get towed back:p
