I am assembling a new BAE short and I want to check the crush on the main bearings can anyone tell me the measurements for what the main tunnel is supposed to be with a 2.750 crank journal?

    The Chrysler Factory Spec:

    Main Tunnel Housing Bore: 2.9425" - 2.9430"

    Crank Shaft Diameter: 2.7495" - 2.7505"

When you buy a Crank Shaft from Winberg or Bryant they usually come under size (2.7478" - 2.7480") for increased clearance and bearing crush for these engines, the blocks usually are under the spec or at least at the low limit. I have been setting up my main tunnels in the 2.9415" - 2.9420" range to achieve about .0035" - .0040" for bearing clearance, however I work at a performance engine shop with all the machines to mess with my main tunnel properly. Once you run the engine the mains will move size wise, but that is pretty common. The best way to keep your main line perfect is to put main caps on it regularly.
