was posed a question today and wanted to poll ITA.

Would gapless top ring help with less alcohol/oil contamination?

Opinions on mildly and heavily boosted applications.

    Thanks ITA...

I never really found that gapless rings gave us better performance, or less blow by. I heard later on that these rings tend to flutter, and are actually less efficient than standard style rings. The only ones that I would recommend are the Z-gap rings that used to be made by Childs and Albert. Not sure that anyone makes those any more though.

Personally I've tried all, I changed to them in 1988, I've not found anything else that gives Z Gap consistancy, there is still contamination.

So you are saying that you prefer Z-Gap versus appropriately set up "normal" gap rings? I'd be very curious to hear more on this. Thanks.

over <appropriately set up "normal" gap rings?> seen too many ring gaps not absolutely perfect, so across the board yes, there is much more allowable tolerance / fore-giveness setting up with the Z Gap second Groove, I did try the total seal dual ring- found setting up not too easy given the thin top ring pairing not able to retain perfect in the bore while measuring.

bruce walker enterprises is likely the manufacture of them now
