    Hi again everyone,

Now that we are making it down the track in one piece, I am starting to look at optimizing rear gearing for 1/8 and 1/4 mile.

I have been running up to now with a 10 inch Ford 4.29 gear 34.5 tire all set on a 40 spline floater setup (Probably best for the 1/4 stuff).

I have access to borrow 5.0 gear (9.5 inch) and 36 tall tires for a day of testing for the 1/8.

The front end of the combo is a 4.310 bore, 4.5 stroke 526 Veney fuel headed Hemi, C-rotor 129 over, Bradco 400 two speed with 1.40 first and 1.0 second.

This combo is more of a low RPM 8500 to 8700 shift and wanting cross the line below 9500 if possible in the 1/8th.

Here are a couple of questions.......

    1. Will the 9.5 gear hold up well?

    2. If I buy gears, or a whole pumpkin, what pumpkin works well.

    3. My current housing is a Lenco iron housing with the 10 inch gear, Is the strength/weight trade off worth going aluminum?

Thanks again to everyone, and I am appreciative of meeting new friends and talking with you on the phone.

Tom's Differentials has both a great pumpkin and great gears. Used by promods and ProXtreme with great success.
