Any suggestions how to remove dowel pins from alum rods. Maybe even save it for reuse?

Try soldering another brass dowel to the pin and use a snatch bar.

You can't re-use the dowel. Drill and tap a hole 10-32 through the center of the dowel, if you go all the way through you can screw a bolt through it and it will pull itself out. If you only want to go 1/4 inch deep or so, you can use a slide hammer to pull it out. When you are done re-sizing your rod, push in a new dowel.

Most rod suppliers have them. Rnr rods sold me some last. Did exactly what ken said. Works perfectly.
