oil restrictor TFX block

    What size restrictor do you guys run on TFX blocks I read .045 on even and no restrictor in odd bank?

    I would suggest calling AJPE and get it straight from them....my TFX 2002 block came with the correct restrictors for my application...I believe they were .035" on both sides but the instruction sheet had several options for other blocks such as 2000 and back...if you contact AJ then you will be sure to get the correct amount of oil up top with your head and rocker setup....

    maybe way more than you need but here is my info reference file:
    I myself have mine plugged.

    MADE: 1992-1996
    THE PAN RAIL IS EXTENDED 1” ON THE WINDAGE SIDE OF THE BLOCK.THE FRONT AND REAR MAIN CAP ARE 2 BOLT STYLE, THEY HAVE NO CROSS BOLTS.THE IDLER POST IS DIFFERENT THAN THE TFX-96 AND NEWER BLOCKS.THE PAN GASKET IS ALSO DIFFERENT THAN THE TFX-96 AND NEWER BLOCKS. LIFTER SPACING 1.800 STD OR 2.00 SPREAD.CAM IS RAISED +.250 / 48’ BANK.STD 426 OR LARGE 2.249 CAM TUNNEL.

    TFX-96 BLOCKS
    MADE: 1996-1999
    EARLY TFX-96 BLOCKS HAVE 2 BOLT FRONT AND REAR MAIN CAPS AND THE CAPS ARE THE SAME AS TFX-92 BLOCKS.LATE MODEL TFX-96 HAVE CROSS-BOLTED FRONT MAIN CAP AND THE 2 THROUGH 5 MAIN CAPS ARE WIDER AT THE PARTING LINE, THE CAPS DO NOT INTERCHANGE WITH THE EARLY BLOCKS.THERE ARE LIGHT WEIGHT STYLE BLOCKS IN BOTH EARLY AND LATE MODEL TFX-96.LIFTER SPACING 1.800, 1.900 OR 2.00.CAM IS RAISED +.250 /48’BANK.

    TFX-2000 BLOCKS
    MADE: 1999-2002
    THE FIRST FORGED HEMI BLOCK, BLOCK # 001 WENT TO AJPE/TEAM WINSTON T/F ON 10/15/99.TFX-2000 USE THE SAME MAIN CAPS AS LATE MODEL TFX-96 BLOCKS.THE OILING SYSTEM IS THE SAME AS TFX-92 & TFX-96 STYLE BLOCKS. ALL FORGED BLOCKS ARE LARGE CAM TUNNEL 2.249 ONLY AND HAVE 1.900 OR 2.00 LIFTER SPACING. TFX 2000 BLOCKS HAVE +.250 RAISED CAM 48’ LIFTER BANK.

    TFX-2002 BLOCKS
    MADE: 2002- PRESENT
    TFX-2002 HAVE FINE THREAD CROSS BOLTS IN ALL 5 MAIN CAPS, THE 2 THROUGH 5 CAPS DO NOT INTERCHANGE WITH THE EARLY TFX BLOCKS, THEY ARE WIDER AT THE PARTING LINE AND STUD SPACING IS DIFFERENT, EARLY STYLE TFX-92,96,2000 STUD SPACING IS 4.100 THE TFX-2002 SPACING IS 4.400 .THESE BLOCKS ALSO COME WITH H-11 MAIN STUDS. THE OILING SYSTEM IS UPGRADED FROM EARLY TFX BLOCKS, BOTH CYLINDER BANKS ARE CONNECTED DIRECT TO THE MAIN OIL GALLEY FOR ROCKER SHAFT OILING.YOU MUST RUN OIL RESTRICTORS ON BOTH SIDES OR YOU WILL HAVE OIL PRESSURE LOSS AND FLOOD THE CYLINDER HEAD WITH OIL.LIGHT WEIGHT TFX-2002 TOP FUEL BLOCKS HAVE A DIFFERENT O.D. CYLINDER SLEEVE, THE LIGHT WEIGHT SLEEVE SPEC IS 4.187 BORE, 4.450/4.410 O.D. STANDARD SLEEVE SPEC IS 4.187 BORE, 4.550/4.490 O.D. ALL OTHER TFX SLEEVES ARE THE SAME AS EARLY BLOCKS. THE LIGHT WEIGHT TFX-2002 BLOCK IS ABOUT 15 LBS LIGHTER THAN THE STANDARD BLOCK. TFX-96 & 2000 GEAR DRIVE , OIL PAN AND HEAD STUDS WILL FIT THIS BLOCK.     TFX 2002 FORGINGS ARE SUPPLIED WITH 5/16-18 X 1/2 X .045 OIL RESTRICTORS. INSTALL ONE OIL RESTRICTOR PER SIDE.

    MAXIMUM TORQUE WHEN INSTALLING HEAD OR MAIN STUDS IN BLOCK SHOULD NOT EXCEED 50 FT. LBS.

    CYLINDER HEAD TORQUE SHOULD NOT EXCEED 140 FT. LBS ON 9/16 STANDARD STUDS,120 FT. LBS ON 1/2 STANDARD STUDS OR 160 FT. LBS ON 9/16 H-11 STUDS.
    ALWAYS CHECK PUSHROD AND LIFTER CLEARANCE IN THE BLOCK, EXTRA MACHINING FOR CLEARENCE MAY BE NEEDED IN SOME CASES.
    CLEAN ALL TAPPED HOLES THOROUGHLY. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN INSTALLING STUDS IN BLIND HOLES. EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL MAY CAUSE A HYDRAULIC EFFECT AND RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE BLOCK. USE FOR LUBRICATION: CL 77 BEARING GUARD ASSEMBLY LUBE, OR DETROIT DIESEL INTERNATIONAL COMPOUND #2.

THE A-1 H-11 STUD CAN BE VERIFIED BY THE PRESENCE OF THE .250 HEX INTERNAL WRENCHING SOCKET ON THE 9/16-18 END OF THE STUD. PLEASE DO NOT WASH YOUR BLOCKS WITH WATER OR WATER BASED CLEANERS WITH THE MAIN CAPS INSTALLED ON THE BLOCK. AFTER WASHDOWN, DRY AND SPRAY STUDS WITH WD-40, JB-80 OR SOME RUST PREVENTATIVE OIL.     TFX OIL RESTRICTORS

    TFX-92, 96, 2000:
    THERE IS A 5/16 - 18 TAPPED HOLE IN THE DECK OVER THE # 4 CAM BEARING, THIS HOLE HAS A ¼ - 20 TAPPED HOLE BELOW IT TO ALLOW THE INSTALLTION OF RESTRICTOR JETS BELOW THE INTERSECTION OF THE .090 ANGLE DRILLED TRANSFER HOLE FOR OILING THE ROCKER ASSEMBLY.WHEN INSTALLING THE 5/16 - 18 SET SCREW USE LOCTITE AND RUN IT JUST PAST FLUSH WITH THE DECK SURFACE, IF YOU THREAD IT IN TO FAR THE .090 TRANSFER HOLE WILL BE BLOCKED.IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A .045 RESTRICTOR IS INSTALLED ON THE EVEN CYLINDER BANK AND NO RESTRICTOR ON THE ODD CYLINDER BANK.YOU STILL MUST PUT THE 5/16-18 SET SCREW ON THE ODD CYLINDER BANK TO CAP THE OIL GALLEY OFF.THIS IS DUE TO THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TFX OILING SYSTEM.

    One thing they don't tell you is if you have the H-11 studs do not keep them torqued for long periods of time or get them wet, they will fail
    I can positively tell you this is true and so can AJ
    the new "aged ones are not supposed to do this"

    I have a .90 in the even side now. This is probably why the even bank is smoking? Oil leaking through the valve guides?
