Head needs welded from a burnt gasket, hoping I don't need to pull the block down too. There is some copper coating on the block and oring in two spots. Once I scraped the areas with a razor blade, it seems more like a discoloration. I figure the guys on this site have pretty good experience with this. Pull it and remachine or run it?

    burnt copper gasket

I had this on a BBC and it burnt the side of the head and spark plug thread clean out. The block has fused copper on it but I cleaned it off with fine wet and dry sandpaper which seemed to work fine as we have had no problems since (it was a blocked port nozzle)

I took a couple swipes with 1000 then 1500 grit and it looks good as new. Head is all welded up, so should be back in business shortly. Mine was a port nozzle problem but it wasn't blocked ... Career best E.T., got out of the car to find #5 port hose hanging off the back of the motor. Apparently 1. I'm not tightening the lines tight enough and 2. I should have checked them all after heat cycling the motor a couple times. Expensive lesson, but could have been much worse.
