    It should be a record setting weekend in Gainesville. Trmendous air, and a racetrack that's allways good.

    Mike is driving Whiteley's dragster, but the tune-up is his. There is more than one person in the TAD class that knows how to make these cars run fast. Maybe next time you see Mike at the races how about you congratulate him.

    Whitley's or not don't matter. That is the blown alcohol competition. I personally look at Chris's car as just as formidable of a competitor.

    In case you aren't aware, I'll fill you in. Whiteley's car is utilizing components that CANNOT be gotten for any other car in TAD/TAFC competition due to contracts in place with certain people to prevent it. Whiteley ran 5.17 and I believe the best Demke ran was 5.23 at that race, so at best over a half tenth advantage. If people are ignorant enough to think that Mike S. is driving that car and changed the tuneup, you're a special kind of stupid. Plugging numbers into Jetsize and adjusting the clutch is far different than starting your own program, you've stepped into the quickest and fastest blown car in history and it should perform well. I'm taking nothing away from Mike S. but be realistic, the money being spent on that car is more than 4X what the next closest team is spending per year. Like another racer mentioned previously, if Whiteley's had opted to run an a-fuel car they'd have been just as deadly.

    I can appreciate that thought. But you have to remember like i said in my previous post when round 1 comes up and your paired against that car you have to race. No one ever said racing was fair, for either type of car. NHRA cant control the money going into teams. Your issues is like saying Al Anabi or Kalitta should be penalized or looked down upon and we should use Karamesines car as an accurate frame of reference in T/F.

    But to touch on your thought of Whitley running A/F In case you aren't aware,.... If he would of they would not have given the blown guys a break. They would have stepped on A/F's penis again. That's how that works.

    What parts?

    From the rule book:
    “Only those engine combinations that utilize cylinder blocks and
    head designs that were in NHRA competition prior to April 1, 2001,
    will be accepted for NHRA competition. Any modifications or
    alterations to engine blocks, cylinder heads, and engine
    components are deemed to be a change in design and therefore
    prohibited. This includes any redesign, reconfiguration, and/or
    significant modification to existing components. Refer any
    development, redesign, reconfiguration, and/or modification
    questions with respect to parts to the NHRA Technical Department
    to determine whether permitted or prohibited.
    All permitted engine combinations must adhere to all of the
    following criteria:
    1. Maintain interchangeability of existing parts (i.e., cranks, cams,
    manifolds, valve covers, rocker assemblies, etc.)
    2. Maintain original bore center variance of +/- .015-inch
    3. Maintain maximum camshaft-to-crankshaft centerline variance
    of +/- .015-inch as used prior to April 1, 2001
    4. Valves can be any size as long as they maintain intake and
    exhaust valve-angle variance of +/- 1 degree
    5. Maintain general combustion-chamber configuration (e.g.,
    Hemi, canted valve). Fuel injection directly into cylinder
    prohibited
    6. Maintain original cylinder orientation in reference to centerline of
    crankshaft
    7. Maintain valve-guide location, lateral and front to back, variance
    of +/- .015-inch
    8. Maintain lifter-bore location, lateral and front to back, variance
    of +/- .015-inch
    9. Maintain maximum and minimum (+/- .015-inch) engine-block
    deck-to-crankshaft centerline dimension as used prior to April 1,
    2001
    10. Retain cylinder head, timing cover, intake manifold, exhaust
    manifold, valve-cover bolt pattern; additional bolts/studs/dowels
    may be used
    11. Retain as cast/forged minimum block wall and web/rib thickness”

    I’m not too smart but I do know how to read. So which components are we talking about? Can’t change the head, the rocker assemblies won’t work. Can’t move the lifter bores. Can’t change the combustion chamber. Everybody is supposed to be using an unmodified D blower. That leaves some stout compression, a revolutionary camshaft or a really trick intake. Who at the NHRA technical department approved “utilizing components that CANNOT be gotten for any other car in TAD/TAFC competition due to contracts in place with certain people to prevent it”?
    I haven’t seen anything about approval of new parts. So are we all playing on a level field?

    Do you think the tech guys can spot if the heads and block where bought as blanks and modified. As far as I know there is no approved list of heads. So I guess

    it's up to the competitor to interpret or use the rules to there advantage.

    All the nhra would have to do is put in place a claiming rule like we had when I road raced motorcycles. Enable racers to claim other racers parts after a race for a standard , set price. This is what kept guys from spending 15000.00 on a set of one off Olin's forks only to have someone buy the at the track for 3000.00. If you think the winner has diff parts that you can't get..... You claim his. Otherwise there is nothing the tech guys can do unless you want to spend a week at every race getting all the cars torn down and inspected with a set of templates and parts examples.

    You guys all crack me up. You can have parts and notes all you want, but someone needs to make decisions on the tune-up. Cars like that don't stay hauling ass sending the exact same thing every lap. And if you dickheads think all you need is parts, jetsize and the runs, well, maybe that's why you're complaining about the car rather than beating it.

    And as for the special parts, well I seem to remember a Brad-Mart car, tuned by the same guy, running within .016 and 2mph on like the 4th lap on the car at Brainerd last year. Parts are only as good as the asshole trying to use them.

    Justin you are exactly right. These first grade whiners that have no clue about another racers operation and claim it as fact is laughable. Maybe if they did
    more than put gas in their car it would be more competitive.

    Dead on .... Keep it up and the nhra will hand out heads and fuel pumps and blowers in tech and they'll have to rent them at the track. Al la some of the nascar short tracks around here do with tires and carbs.

    I have to laugh also, first the piranhas circle and attack the a/f cars now their circling and chewing each other up. A telling moment in here.
