Best crank bolt you can buy 1/2-20

    I'm looking online for the best bolt or stud i can buy. Any leads or opinions?

    Easy=grade 8 from the hardware store
    Better=?
    Best=?

    Hey Paul. Length is the issue with that. i need it 2.75UHL with the RCD crank support hub. BBCs are 'about' 2" uhl

    talk to specialty fasteners... they can probably set you up with something in 8740 material and proper length... good people to deal with and reasonable prices

    Fastenal and Bowman also have Grade 9 stuff, my choice if ARP not have something in the back room (ask them, lots of stuff not in the catalog).

    I called & chatted with Bob. That is a great experience. WOW.

    He only has 3/4" washers. Not willing to make a onesy twosy deal.

    I had a buddy with a lathe make up some very hard .250 thick washers. Followed bob's directions.

    I called Cat and got a nice 12point grade 9 1/2-20 bolt.

    ARP specialty department

    Call ARP, they have a specialty department with items and sizes that are not listed in their catalog.
