    I have gone from a offset mag drive to std straight lower mag base used with my summer brothers front mag drive..with the offset drive it had 2 flanges as part of drive that i bolted down to manifold..now that i went to the other base i need to use a clamp hold down[as a stock dist would use]to hold my mag base in the front mag drive;;
    what is everyone using?may seem like a stupid quest but i've seen just cheap chrome ones for $7.00 up to high priced billet ones for $60.00;;do i need the high priced ones or just say a nice looking anidoised aluminum one for a $20 bill or even the cheap steel stock looking one???

    it depends on your mag, how strong it is. when running about the same thing we had trouble with the mag turning using most all chevy type clamps. I fix ours by making my own clamp, I have also drilled and taped the mag drive just below the flange and putting a set screw in it that would seat to the mag base so after setting it you can run in the set screw

    On both our Pioneer front drives, I used the billet aluminum one on both the mag base and oil pump drive on BBC. I think it was a Moroso unit or maybe an AllStar? Never had one turn. JW

    Thanks for the advice..i just got a billet aluminum one from jegs and noticed a small hole in it besides the lock down[mounting bolt] i'm wondering if that may be intended for a set screw or even a roll pin to do as GTPERF suggested doing;;seen it there and first thing i asked myself was what that extra small hole was there for..

    I found an appropriate sized two piece split collar and then welded a chassis tab on it. It's a very positive way to lock the mag and keep it from turning and also allows you to use an allen to loosen it to adjust the mag. Another nice feature is with that ring underneath there you can actually index it with timing marks for quick reference is in the lanes
