Hi I am running a 2 speed Lenco.
    In a funny car.

The standard reverser Handel that bolts to the rear of the reverser is not going to do the job as it's out of reach

What is every one else doing.

    Thanks Wayne Talbot.

    Wayne,

I studded the top three holes of the reverser and made some stand-offs out of bar stock then bolted the shifter unit to the end of the stand-offs, made a longer shift rod to match. I just had some round stock so had to mill some flats on two sides to get a wrench on them to tighten up. Some 3/4" hex stock would be a lot more solid I think with a ready made wrench surface, but I just used what I had. Can't post pics on here but can send you some tonight. Pics probably will make more sense than my description...lol

That was what I had planed to do.

But I have seen other people just making a long bent handle that comes straight off the shaft.

    Is this the common way.

Wayne; it should have a round hole over shaft, then a bolt holding the alum. handle to the steel Lenco arm to use the proper detents in the steel arm, after securing the handle to the arm, the rest can be trimmed away.

    reverse

I just turned the reverse box upside down and made a lever about 12in long. Lenco says there is a bearing housing that needs to be right side up. So I just flipped that part back side up.

    food for thought

just another 2 cents, but after creasys trans spin incident, a new idea about the levers is to make it out of aluminum, and put a break line, or divet in the lever as a breaking point if the trans breaks the bolts in the can and spins, the lever doesn't slice your legs up, it breaks or bends easier instead of being a spinning knife. same thing with plastic air pod lines instead of stainless steel, the lines will break instead of becoming flying knifes. just an extra opinion.

Nitrobandit has it right. make it out of aluminum, drill holes in it to make it lighter. the holes not only make it lighter, but the lever will bend sideways when the trans spins. the holes don`t weaken the forward and rearward movement of the lever, but it will fold up and wrap around the trans when it spins, saving your legs.

We run a 2spd in our NFC, built a chromoly lever and mounted to chassis and use a short morse cable to control fwd/rev. Works real slick, out of the way, and if something goes south with the transmission the cable will break off much easier than any handle.
