Have 7730 power grid plugged into the laptop,( second race day with new power Grid) green light is on but wont allow me to connect, connection bar is not highlighted, on MSD VIEW CONNECT. Only the cancel bar is highlighted. Power grid powered by laptop.
Tried another cable and green light is on but connect bar again not highlighted ? Any thoughts ?

So on the smaller connect window that comes up when you are plugged into the box does it show it is recognizing the 7730?

    cable or port

If the laptop is not allowing you to connect, chances are you have a bad usb cable or the usb port in the lap top is not working properly.

Try different usb ports on your lap top. if that doesn't work, if you dont' have another cord, you may flex and jiggle the cord.

I think the cord is the same as a charging cable for a android style phone?

    Msd 7730

    Hi Guys
    Thanks for the prompt reply.
I finally worked out that the laptop doesn't recognize the 7730, completely, on all USB ports on one side , but that particular side is what we use for the RPM PRO data logger. Thanks again.

Then you might want to check your laptop for malware and viruses. It has locked me out before.

    grid usb problems

I have had similar problems with my grid, when i had to use my wifes laptop. She has all kind of goofy stuff running on hers and for some reason the grid really dosen't like that. My best recommendation is to use a clean laptop.

    Usb

Hi, On mine I found that one of the two USB ports won't work with the power grid but both will work with my RPM data logger, It's been a while but if I recall correctly it was a port conflict with either the labtop or the data logger. I just did some testing and found out which ports they liked and marked them on the cables and on the labtop.

    Hope that helps some,
    Trevor Sherwood

One more note on Connection Function

One thing I noticed over the last couple years was if you are running JetSize at the same time you're trying to connect through MSD View, it will be PAINFULLY slow. Didn't seem to matter how badass the laptop either, JetSize eats resources for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drunk meal... Just do yourself a favor and close all other programs when using MSD View to hook up to your Grid.

Gosh, maybe one of these days Les Davenport should redo Jetsize to bring it into this century. Guaranteed it does the job but like you said it is a real power user for some reason. I agree that it should not be on with MSD software
