I ran an aluminum for a few years and after a while the splines started to get rough from removing it. I went with a steel one from Lenco and that solved the issues. Plus the steel one went on the cross shaft way better, the aluminum one had to be almost tapped on and off. If you are not pulling it off very often, the aluminum one should be OK. The weight was not any issue either.

just curious why you had it on and off so often? The cars that I have been involved with we usually used a quick pin to the linkage and just pulled the pin to get the can out we never really took the arm on and off

When I built the car originally, lets just say I was a little "green" and my clutch throwout system was a mess . I've since redesigned it and I don't have to remove the arm. So I guess if you eliminate the need to remove the arm all the time, the aluminum one should be ok.
