Anyone numbers on how much weight is added by painting a 288" dragster chassis? Also the same for the body paint vs. vinyl.

    Thanks,

Not sure on a dragster but my funny car chassis had 4 lbs of paint on it when i had it removed. The body vinyl wrap weighed 8 lbs when i took it off. Not sure on body paint, never had a chance to weigh that.

    paint on chassis

painting or powder coating a long dragster is not a good idea. Especially on an older car, you need to be able to see the welds to inspect them regularly.

paint really sucks because brake cleaner will make it run. makes it a lot harder to clean frame rails if you cant use brake clean.

    Weight

Hi Will, I am stripping the paint off of the chassis by soda blasting and was just curious about the weight, Unfortunately the only reason I even considered painting it was because Florida sucks for the frequent rusting of the chassis.

    Thanks Will,
    Trev
