is there a benefit, or weight savings in running stainless steel zoomies compared to a regular mild steel?

Weight, same to same, would be less than 2% more for stainless. The look is fantastic, however, be prepared for a big increase in price. :)

16 ga SS and 16 mild steel weigh 2.5 lbs per sq ft --------------- it's a push ---- SS is more money -------------------

SS seems to work much better on a funny car than on a dragster. The instant temp change at the finish line on a dragster leads the SS pipes to crack.
