We ran our new dragster this past weekend at the euro finals at Santa pod, first time out with car (ex Scott Moore tad),we are using our 526 veney headed hemi backed up with 3 plate crower pedal clutch,b&j trans, rear end is a mark Williams 11inch with a 4.30 gear,34.5 tyre, launching at 4500-5000,we ran a best of 6.52@205,7600rpm at the finish line,I am real happy with what we achieved on our first outing but just looking for a little info to help me go abit further,I don't know what the gearbox ratios are but I would just like a little info in what input and drive shaft speeds I should be aiming for to run 6.4's to 6.3s,if more info is needed I fully understand,I don't have the lap top at home with me to give the data I got from the 6.5 run,I can say our egt's are all under 820 and was shifting at 6300,I know this is low but we had to start sum where, any help will be greatly appriciated, btw this is a roots blown motor built by sassy race engines(we used to run a mini rod in Europe, then we run the motor in a f/c which ran a best of 6.93@211 with same trans and clutch 34.5 tyre but with a 4.11 gear, heads are fuel heads also, thanks again for any help.karl Harrison

Since no one has replied with a hemi, I'll give it a shot. I would take some base out of the clutch. Raise the leave rpm to 5400, shift at 8300 and let her eat. That's what we do with a 526 kb olds. hope this helps or somebody else chimes in. Good Luck

well, what did it run at the 60' ? was the track good ....bad? do you think it felt great?....lazy?.....spin the tires or shake on launch? i would think that if on a decent track you should have no problem running in the mid .900 60' times. once you get to that point the car will tell you what it needs. i would put clutch (base) in it until you get it leaving like you want, then go from there. see if you can figure out what gear ratios you have in the trans....that will make a pretty big difference on the way you run the car. we shift our 526 hemi at 8800 with a roots....I would raise the shift point to at least 8000 and i bet it goes in the .30's. just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info guys, the 60ft was 1.09,but the launch rpm wasn't up there enough on the 6.50 run,we are racing again this weekend so going to up the shift rpm, take sum weight of the fingers as we have been running with loads of weight due to launching from pretty much idle,as we are running in super pro (bracket racing),we are allowed to run a two step which I'm going fit on tonight so the driver can launch at the same rpm each time,I spoke to a top alky racer from the uk (Dave Wilson),who also said pretty much the same as you guys,I understand that the shift rpm is/was way to low which explains a couple of other issues I was having, hopefully will push it a little quicker this weekend with the changes, thanks again for the input and advise,
