what's the tricks to getting off the line with a powerglide?

low budget so we have to be easy on powerglide and don't want to smoke tires.

plans to run mag 44 or 20

    have bought throttle controller

    also use transbrake

    1/8 mile only

will be a new experience for us next spring and would like to here from the experts or someone that has done the Blower/powerglide setup

Have no clutch to adjust to get it off the line

thanks and Happy Safe Holidays to all

there are no tricks, would suggest you call coan and get you a good converter. and you may need a retard system, depends on what igntion system you use.

Need more specific info, are you asking how to get off the line without breaking the trans? Or without smoking the tires? Or what? Staging procedure?

We ran a Blown 406 SBC in a 2100 LBS Roster with the Hot Rods from Hell. We used Hughs bolt togather 2 sprag converter. We tryed a few stalls but found 2900 the best and a 410 rear. This keep us from blowing through at the top end. We had the barrle valve set a little fat, I think like 24% and no high speed. We also used a trans brak to load the conveter to about 2500. We still had aboul 8% slip on the top end. I think the tecnolage has gotten better with spragless conveters The best run was a 6.99 @ 201 at MIR

We ran T/D and Pro Outlaw w/BBC, 8-71 and glide. Went between 3.91 and 3.87 in 1/8th at over 180mph run after run! There is and adjustable valve to put on the "dump" side of your controller that will "ease" the throttle open or will let you hit it hard. Nice thig is it is adjustable. We actually lefy the line around 4500 w/brake. Used B&M special built 10" convertors and I think I still have a brand new one if you are looking for a unit? Have fun! Tim PS Believe it or not, we actually 60' in the .915 range! Only real drawback was if it even thought of rattling the tires, input shaft would break, didn't matter whose we used!

    Thanks a bunch

Sounds like we are making the right plans

    We have the throttle control

Thinking about timing control if we need it

Sounds like converter selection may give us a little trouble, maybe company can help on the right choice

    Thanks again
Maybe when warmer weather rolls around and we get this thing together I can come back with good results or more intelligent questions
