    Pump this

they are right. get one from grainger, get a warranty and take it back every couple of years. they go bad for that reason. or get a cheap line that has the check ball at the bottom at home depot, slow, but works. you can get the ones from vp, but they are slow, and take forever to pump. maybe if you lubed the pumps with top end lube or marvel oil, they might live better.

We just use a 1 1/4 inch hose a rag and the shop air.
Hose in the drum rag to fill the gap air nozzle in the top with the rag and hose.
Easy never fails fills the jugs quick.

I use a plastic pump from northern tool. It's made for corrosive liquid so alky doesn't bother it. Had it 4 years with no problems. About $35.00.

    barrel pump

I have been using a harbor freight pump for nitro, nothing to fail, it pressures the barrel and forces the fuel out, has 2 ball valves, one for air with a low press regulator and a 1" outlet for the fuel, can empty a 55 gal drum in 5 min if you have enough containers.

Do you really want to pump wet compressed air into you alcohol drum and then go through fuel check? OK if you run a class without fuel check.

make a barrell rack to put the drum on its side( horizontal).....use a simple petcock or adapt a regular ball valve to the small fitting on drum. mine has wheels so i can move it around the shop. you don't need a pump this way

The cheap plastic one from Jegs actually works pretty good for ~20 bucks. It will create a siphon if the fuel level in the drum is high enough so you can just pump a few times and then let it drain. Nice to use in the trailer and don't have to bother with the air hose. Only used mine for a few months, definitely doesn't look like it will last forever.

    What about oil?

How are you guys pumping oil out of the drum? Which pump works best for that? Will the air pump work for oil?

Don the pump from Harbor Freight will work fine, have used one for Nitro and one for oil.
In fact had one in 55 gal drum of diesel when I delivered your trailer.

The Harbor Freight pump is actually for oil.
