The flyer for Beech Bend shows two hits on Saturday at 1 and 5, first round Sunday at noon. Check it out.

    Best regards,

The Bowling Green Regional Event was ran the same way last year. The track concentrates on the Saturday & Sunday portion of the Alky show, and it gives the alky teams a chance to work another day and save alittle money for that run.
You never make everyone happy, but I don't remember hearing any complaints at the event last August.
I like the 2 day format, and my boss would like to see me stop taking so many Fridays off.

This is good news - we like the 2 day deal as well. My only complaint from going there is they don't group the alky cars (unless they did in 2012 as I didn't attend).

    2 runs

The 2 run format is all well and fine if you are an established car with a decent tune up for a divisional track. Even at that you have very little room for error.

The benefit is less time off work and less wear and tear on the parts.

I think this is a bad deal for new teams who are trying to figure this game out, get laps, get experience etc. Especially if there is a full field with a tough bump spot.

Also it affects teams that may have limited racing options due to races being lost in their area. They only get so many chances to run their car, this cuts back another run they would normally get.

I have talked to several teams that are decently funded that said they don't like losing runs because they do this for enjoyment and this takes a run away. I think Clint Thompson has been vocal if they go to 2 qualifying shots across the board, he would just put his stuff for sale.

Maybe the compromise is 3 shots on Saturday?

I'd be up for that - three on Saturday that is.

I guess my old UDRA days of one run qualifying keep haunting me. Don't get me wrong, I love driving my car as many times as possible. However in reality, it's more affordable to make 5 runs to win $2500 plus contingency (about $3200 for TA/D), than to make 6 runs. Until purses increase, or I find that new big sponsor, I will probably prefer 2 qualifying passes and 2 day Regional shows.

As far as Bowling Green parking goes, I have contacted Jay Hullinger and ask him to give this issue extra attention this time. He said they had intentions to "have a better handle on parking with Top Alcohol in the middle of the oval".
