what is anyones opinion of clutch size
cosidering going to a 10" but have reservations about it

try going back to norm drazeys post on the cut down disks, i thinkit in this treid, mybe 5 months ago.

 

10.7 multiplies more torque when slipping period.

 

Go faster with 10" it works fine!!!!!! Newberry just got one.

 

Any concerns with heat in a 10" vs. a 10.7? 10" seems to equal less material, therefore less area, therefore less heat dissipation. What would be the advantage of a 10". I would assume weight is one positive?

 

Just curious how a clutch multiplies torque? I would also think that a smaller clutch would be easier on the rear main. Certainly, from accelerating the additional rotating mass in relation to the radius, even 0.7" would rev quicker? Since an alcohol engine during the run has an rpm delta of less than 2000 rpm, it would seem that the faster accelerating clutch might be offset by other factors that lead the 10.7.

We ran 5.50s with no inherent problems with Boninfante 10" B.B. clutch. Lightest clutch around (rotating mass)= quicker accelerating RPM at hit.

Lots of racers like the 10.7" and are quite successful. Just don't understand those running a 10.7 but pull back the discs (take away surface material). Why not just run the 10" with a full face?
