That is one major thing the PSA has been working on Division Directors about getting going, even if just for Top Alcohol..

Believe it or not, NHRA isn't really against it, but a lot of track owners are on the divisional level. Their thought is "Well what if Manzo is on the list? Cars might back out or skip us." I tried to explain to the Division 5 tracks at the meeting this January that we're not like their bracket racers. Top Alky classes only have so many places we can go to run these things all-out for even some kind of a payout. And if Manzo being on a pre-entry list was enough to send teams running, there would be no other cars at 8-10 Nationals every year, or racing D1 or D3 now for that matter. Location, schedule and funding has more to do with why Alky racers show or not.

If anything, I thought it might have the opposite effect for the tracks though.. Somebody sees a short field coming up somewhere, it may help the track fill their fields. It would also probably help fill fields with blockers for those chasing regional points.

    entry lists

    Gainesville 6 funny cars
Virginia Motorsports Park 6 funny cars
    Cecil County 5 funny cars
    National Trail 7 funny cars

Because there was no entry list, I could not justify a lost day of work.,, an average $500 tow expense and $130 entry.I know its my own personal issue, but 20 or so years ago, when we were told to treat our racing more like a business, I did. And I continue to. I try my best not to run for a loss.I weigh every aspect of a date including travel expenses, entry fees and consumables. I look at the qualifying money to cover those expenses. Had I known about the short fields, 3 of those dates would have met my criteria. Instead, I mounted an altered body and went matchracing, had fun and paid the bills.
Of course, I realize that I am not the average alcohol racer, but can't help wondering how many parked cars could still be around if they did the same thing.
