Need some inputs from those who use or have used the 296/500 camshaft, At what RPMs do you shift? We have run oure set up pretty easy until now but when we raised the shifting RPMs to 9000 we noticed that it seams to lose power over 8500rpm, im not sure if its a tuning problem or if its just the cam that falls off. big bore 521 hemi, Veney 806 heads widh a procharger F3 136.

    Thanks

The G-Meter doesn't lie, shift where it starts descending at a more rapid rate than its' prior rate of deceleration.

Understand that, I notice that the G-meter droped some after 8500 and picks up again after shifting to 3rd so i just trying to find out if its a tuning problem or if its normal for the 296/500. Havent run it over 8500 beafore and im not sure if it needs more timing or less fuel to keep it going to 9000 over the finish line or if its just the way it should be. (camcard says up to 9600 ? )

thats a pretty standard grind that i'm sure many racers have ran well 10,000 plus.

    it's not the camshaft itself.

it might be in the fuel system. maybe the amount of fuel is getting from the increased pump speed is more than the increased air from the charger. if it's an mfi deal, you might want to put a high speed either off pressure or something triggered by an rpm activated switch.

I'd bet my C rotor its a procharger issue. those things have numerous flatlining rpm issues, compressor surge, you name it.
A local promod goes 4.0 with one and they have had several situations where the rpm just stopped like it was on a rev limiter.
Your longblock will fly with a good blower, even a roots. Just ask Sullivan or Clark Bros.

Thanks for the input really apriciate it, its a electronic injection (MFI from Alan Dudley)
About F3 (136) going in to float, hope not, its set to meet its maximum RPM at 9000 engine RPMs, The old one, F3 135 was set at it maximum at 8500 and it pulled good up to that, but that was in a 4.31x4.5 KB10. Will try tun tune it a little more and see whats happening. (maybe deegreing it? its set to 0 now)
Have read about Sulivan and chatted widh Robert Loar, Thing is that Top doorslammer dont run so freaking fast here in Scandinavia so the 4.0 and 3.9s were running this year isnt so bad and i really like the electronic stuff and boost curve from the prochargrer so i want quit on it yet.

    Any more idees ?
